Film Audience and Institution

Media Essay

Ownership and Britishness
One main connection between all of these movies (Harry Potter, Gravity and Paddington) was that they were all created by Heyday films. This provides the audience with an unsaid promise that they will all be on par with each other in terms of quality and special effects.
In terms of ownership about them being a british film these films are all classified that way. Harry Potter is predominantly a british movie due to the cast being british, the film crew being british and the movie studios being in Britain. However it was made by an American company, Warner Bros. This creates an issue with it’s classification of being a british film.
Gravity is also classified as a british movie even with both stars being american and the only scene on the earth is shot in america. However all of the space scenes (majority of the movie) are shot in a british studio and its producer also being british. Essentially making it a british movie.

Paddington is also seen as a british film. Paddington is voiced by an English actor and also shot in England making it a generic british movie.
